Undergraduate Research Opportunities at MIT
Project Title: Mobile App development for Diagnostic Construction Sets
Project Description: The Little Devices lab has an opening for 2 motivated UROPs or volunteers to assist the project developing mobile apps for image recognition of medical and environmental biosensors. An example of early version can be found at littlewatersensor.com
The initial applications include environmental sensing and follow through into realtime epidemiological mapping of dangerous virus using microfluidic technology that student will learn to work with.
UROP Tasks will include: Mobile app development on mobile phones using HTML5, Javascript and Canvas. Generating prototypes that can be calibrated, testing for geolocation, and image recognition fidelity will involve taking pictures of a target, recognizing it and mapping. Experience with web programming (HTML5, Javascript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL, Apache, etc.) along with an interest Computer Vision and Image processing is big plus. An interest in global health will be rewarding but not a requirement. We want to you solve interesting problems. International travel opportunities available.
